My Top 10 Archived Motivational Memos

Do you like this story?

Post written by Peter G. James Sinclair.

When I consider how many blog articles I have written over the years I am amazed. But my concern is that many of my readers never get to read what I consider are some of my best material, that is buried deep in the archives of my blog.

So that’s why I have unearthed what I consider are my top 10. But who knows – I may find another top 10 in the not so distant future – because I have so many favourites that I want to share with you.

Apply this material in your life and change it. This is truly life changing material.

The Excellence Autograph

Every job is a self-portrait of the person who did it. Autograph your work with excellence.

As a boy, before the age of 12, I recall never ever wanting to perform in a pleasing manner when it came to doing schoolwork. My work was scratchy, scrappy and plain ugly. The only thing I was ever interested in doing after school was to kick around a soccer ball. As soon as I’d arrive home after school I’d grab something to eat and head off to one of my mate’s place. There I would stay for the rest of the afternoon. Homework was rarely done, or if it was ever done, was done in a rush….

True Leadership

Leadership is such a vital part of our society. But one of the most vital elements of true leadership should be demonstrated in the way that we lead our personal lives and not just the lives of those whom we are privileged to lead.

At times external leadership can lose its way and it is at that point that we must determine what vision is guiding our own path and it is at that point that we must adhere to our own personal dreams. This is where true leadership is demonstrated and where it will be put to the test….

Defined By What you Do

I recently saw the movie ‘Batman Begins’. Twice throughout the movie the following words were heard: ‘You are defined by what you do’.

It’s not what you say that defines you. Because many say and never do.

It’s not what you propose that defines you. For many make plans and never carry them out. Many talk about giving but never give. Many talk about supporting but never support.

It’s what you DO that defines you…

Millionaire In Less Than A Minute

I was recently told that more millionaires are made in hard economic times than in good times.

They’re a little bit like a donkey I read about. They develop the ability to take a disastrous situation and turn it around into a wonderful freeing opportunity and it only takes them less than a minute to start thinking that way.

One day a farmer’s donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do. Finally he decided the animal was old, that the well needed to be covered anyway and that it just wasn’t worth retrieving the donkey. So he invited all his neighbours to come over and help him…

The Ramification Of Taking Action

The fact is that you are never going to please everybody all the time. Anyone who ever dares to take action is going to ‘cop flak’ at one point or other.

Does that mean we avoid action?

Does that mean we all hide in a hole and never tempt fate and the criticism for our actions?

But don’t fall into the trap of walking in the path of ‘do nothings’. ‘Do nothings’ will never attract any attention in the long-term.

It’s the ‘do somethings’ that will always be used as target practice. Ask any politician…

I returned for the second time for a scheduled appointment with a potential client the other day.

The first appointment – I had arrived at the set time – and for some reason the time had been double booked and the lady whom I was to see was already with another client. I was asked to have my PA reschedule the meeting for another time.

I had no problem with this and this is what we did.

So, I then turned up on time for the second appointment and for some reason the person was not present, was still in a meeting elsewhere, was uncontactable and I was informed that if I waited she would arrive some time in the near future.

I left…

Turning The Impossible Into The Possible

When the Wright brothers pronounced that they would be the first humans to fly, many people said that humans could and would never fly.”This time, they carried the glider almost to the top of Big Kill Devil Hill.

‘Ready?’ asked Orville.

‘Ready,’ replied Wilbur from his prone position.

Safely in the air, Wilbur warped the wings. There was an instant response and Wilbur glowed with joy. But as the glider curved, he became aware of a new instability. He adjusted the controls, There was little response. True, the glider turned. Still – although puzzled, he managed a safe landing…

Strength Vs Weakness

The following is the story of a 10-year-old boy who decided to study judo despite the fact that he had lost his left arm in a devastating car accident. The boy began lessons with an old Japanese judo master. The boy was doing well, so he couldn’t understand why, after three months of training, the master had taught him only one move.

“Sensei,” the boy finally said, “Shouldn’t I be learning more moves?”

“This is the only move you know, but this is the only move you’ll ever need to know,” the sensei replied.

Not quite understanding, but believing in his teacher, the boy kept training…

Time Management Is Not Rocket Science

Mary Kay, who created a cosmetic empire, managed her time by making her list of 6 every day: the 6 most important things that needed doing. Whatever wasn’t completed was transferred to the next day and so on…
