Man Thinks

Do you like this story?

‘Man Thinks’ is an axiom that was presented to the world by the philosopher Benedictus De Spinoza, who lived between 1632 and 1677. An axiom is a saying that is widely accepted on its own merit. And yet, what do these two words mean? It is as if a third word is required to clearly define the meaning of the two.

For it is as one thinks that one’s life is defined. First the thought, then the act.

If a man thinks evil, and allows evil thoughts to pervade his mind, the result will be evil acts. If a man thinks good thoughts then it would seem natural that good actions shall follow.

So if man thinks – then how do you spend those thoughts?

Think prosperously, live prospersously. Think poverty, live poor. Think possible, achieve impossiblity. Think lack, live lack. Think small, live small. Think big, live big.

‘For as a man thinks, so is he,’ states the good book.

Where are your thoughts? What fills your mind? What possesses your dreams? What time do you spend to develop and mature those thoughts?

Man thinks. Man speaks. Man acts.

Man thinks. Man formulates. Man creates.

Are you thinking shacks, and yet wanting castles? To have castles, first you must begin to think castles even while you are still living in the shack. Think stars while you inhabit earth. Think highways while residing in alleys. Think sunshine in the rain. Think high in the low. Think spring in the winter.

For your thoughts are so much more powerful than you can ever imagine. Your tomorrows are defined by the thoughts you have today. Shape your future by moulding your thoughts on the potter’s wheel of the present.

Your thoughts are the powerful changers of any circumstance that you may find yourself in.

I know from personal experience that by simply changing my thoughts in an instant – a situation that one second seemed irreversible and devestating is suddenly transformed into an atmosphere of possibilty. Flick the electricity switch of your thoughts and the deepeest darket night will be turned into the brightest of days.

Man thinks.

Now that’s something to think about.
