How & Why I Rebranded Me & My Blog
I read a fabulous book by Paul Arden called ‘It’s Not How Good You Are, It’s How Good You Want To Be’ a few years ago, and in the final pages of the book he detailed ‘Life’s Creative Circle’.
He wrote, ‘The most popular conception of creativity is that it’s something to do with the arts. Nonsense. Creativity is imagination, and imagination is for everyone.’
And in this wonderful and stimulating book – ‘It’s Not How Good You Are, It’s How Good You Want To Be’, he broke up a life into the following age groups – along with the associated traits…
0-1 Nothing
1-3 Minimimalism
3-5 Fantasy
5-10 The Beginnings Of Copying
10-15 Art Becomes Grown Up
15-20 A Need to Change The World
20-25 Beginnings Of Political Awareness
25-30 Maturity
30-40 Hell Bent On Success
40-50 Trying To Keep Up With The 25-Year Olds
50 The Watershed
50-60 Reinventing Yourself
60-75 A Gentle Decline Into Senility
75-85 Youth Regained
85-100 Inhibitions Lost. Don’t Give A Damn. Me, me, me.
Reinventing Myself
It’s interesting to note that I am, at the time of writing this article, in the ‘reinventing yourself’ period of my life.
And at 50 I did have a ‘watershed’ moment where I decided that it was time to be truly me.
Now I have been known as Peter Sinclair all my life, but as I flicked through Google I realized that I was one of millions.
That’s when I decided to take on the full name that my mother gave me – Peter G. James Sinclair, and if you go to Google you’ll find that in the entire world there is currently only one Peter G. James Sinclair.
This now was going to be the brand that I was going to be known as for the rest of my days.
So in the reinvention there was rebranding.
Rebranding & Redirection
Towards the end of last year I decided to sell my web design clients, whom I had taken care of successfully for 7 years and 3 months.
Why?
Because it was time for me to once and for all pursue my passion for writing and talking about everything motivational.
So what have I been doing these past six months?
- I hired a blogging coach.
- I redesigned and rebranded my blog.
- I started writing for blogs with larger readerships than my own.
- I began the process of interviewing successful individuals all around the world on Skype.
- I created an eBook: Discovering The You In Unique.
- I created the Motivational Memo Newsletter for all those who downloaded my eBooks.
- I created my first online personal development course: Self Development Mastermind.
- I created another eBook: Personal Success Blueprint.
- I am now earning income from my blog via the sale of my course, advertising, affiliate marketing, speaking engagements and business coaching.
- I have created a new product called the Daily Motivational Memo – one of my original quotes or motivational memos supported by 100 of my power packed and life changing words. These are free when someone purchases my Self Development Mastermind program, but will also be for sale at an affordable price for those who wish to be inspired on a daily basis.
So it is possible to reinvent, rebrand and redirect your life, and it’s never too late to start.
I trust that my story will encourage you to identify and pursue your passion while at the same time gaining pre-eminence in your niche, and profit from your passionate efforts.
If I can do it, so can you.
So where in your life would you like to reinvent, rebrand and redirect yourself?
