Post written by Peter G. James Sinclair and his LinkedIn Friends.

In February 2011 I wrote a single statement in the Motivation Nation group found on LinkedIn – ‘Give me ONE motivational quote that CHANGED YOUR LIFE!’

It attracted so much attention that I was often the ‘Top Influencer Of The Week’ in that group of over 9,000 members. Well the spark has been lit again and alerts are being sent to me on a regular basis as people are once again adding their incredibly loved quotes.

So here’s some more.

More than 1,000 people have already contributed to my request for a motivational quote that has changed their life on LinkedIn and I never get tired of reading these – along with the contributors as they respond to each other.

It’s awe-inspiring stuff. I trust you enjoy it as much as I do.

Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do.

So throw off the bowlines.

Sail away from the safe harbor.

Catch the trade winds in your sails.

Explore. Dream. Discover.

When your hesitant about trying something new, attacking a difficult task, or anything, just remember the quote and you will get it done.

Craig Daliessio • “Failure is an event, not a person” –Zig Ziglar. I was a very successful mortgage banker for ten years. In 2007 I lost my home. In 2008 the company I worked for folded, my branch was closed and I couldnt even rent a house anymore. From August 2008 until January 2012 I slept in my car. I refused to leave Nashville because I have a daughter here who needs her dad. (Thankfully my ex-wife had a home and she had a place to live.) I tried everything. I was turned down 207 times for every job available. I completed my Bachelors degree (through Liberty U online) while homeless. During this time I was given an old cassette series from Zig and heard that quote. It literally saved my life. I can’t help what the economy did to me. But I never quit. I graduated this past May 12, I have a book being published this Christmas, I was hired by an insurance company, and speaking opportunities are opening up for me.

The other quote that kept me going was by my beloved Dr. Jerry Falwell (I was a resident student at Liberty 28 years ago) “A man is not measured by what it takes to knock him down, but by what it takes to keep him down”

I was knocked down so many times, but I kept getting up.

John • Powerful Craig!!!! Thank you for sharing your story….and your Rise back! Your ‘events’ should be an inspiration to all and how you have overcome them.

Craig Daliessio • Thanks John

Each time I see that I say, to myself, of course, we all know that. Each one of us are absolutely beautifully created for a purpose. It is through living our purpose that we truly live life. So discover your purpose and live the Promised Life!

Jim Maendel • It’s corny and overused, but: “If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got”

Larry Dickman • If your nose runs and your feet smell, you must be built upside down!

Jane Brown • Wherever you are, be all there…

Tom Grbich • I was told all my life by my mother that I was “born useless” and “should have died at birth.” The quote/statement that turned my life around completely came from my (Martial arts) Grand Master who told me… “You were NEVER born useless – you were TAUGHT TO BELIEVE YOU WERE and ANYTHING you have been taught, you can be taught to change.”

After those wonderful words (which STAGGERED me with their truth at the time) I began to live instead of exist and have since achieved every goal (business & personal) that I have ever set for myself.

Michelle Barr • @Tom Grbich, that is such a word for me today. I love the reframing, and I can use that in my life. I was taught some core things about my value and worth at a very young age because they did not match what my family valued. I have done a lot of work on that. I want you to know, this statement, when I read it, touched me to the core. I appreciate you. Sharing our own journey is so powerful!

Dave Van Pelt • Slow down to go faster .- Dave Van Pelt

Tom Grbich • Michelle – thank you SO much. Yes I still think of the 19 wasted years before that wonderful man gave me this new understanding and I just KNOW that was meant to be shared. I am SO glad you resonated with it – I STILL do, and I have consciously ensured that my own kids have been taught the TRUTH about their worth in this life.

Another quote I like (a LOT) is… “If you could kick the butt of the person who has stood MOST in the way of your success in this life to date – you wouldn’t be able to sit down for a week.”

Paula Valentini • “Live your life from the inside out.”

In other words, when you are grounded and know who you are and your value, the confusion in the ‘world out there’ will not keep you off balance. The world is ever changing and people have their own agendas. If you know yourself and where you want to be, none of that will undermine your confidence or sense of self. Be true to yourself first and everything else will follow.

Dana Pettiford • silly as it may sound, mine came from Nike – JUST DO IT!!! I turn to this when I find myself procrastinating and when I “just do it”, I am so glad I did.

Céline Clémence SIKA • I have many. And quite a few have already been stated here.

-Every problem has a solution except the death.

-If you can dream it, you can get it but dreams without actions are only dreams. Get up, get out and get it.

-If you dream small, you will get small things. If you dream big you will get big things. Don’t be your own limitations.

-It is OK to make mistakes. It is even good to make mistakes because they are great teachers. They are soil for success.

-Unlearn what you have learned for it is the only way to know the truth.

-Run your own race. Follow your own lane. Be yourself. You are unique, not a pale copy of others. You are UNIQUE.

These words and many more changed my life and are helping others I know and who dare to listen to me to change theirs. They are powerful.

Oliver Huls • Céline, Love this one especially with two kids!!!

Run your own race. Follow your own lane. Be yourself. You are unique, not a pale copy of others. You are UNIQUE.

Holly Wolf • If you can fill the unforgiving minute with 60 seconds worth of distance run. by R. Kipling as part of his “If” poem. It just reminds me that every second counts–make it meaningful.
