Did not Joseph – the savior of ancient Egypt– spend the good years storing up the excess – to the disdain of many of the people I can imagine, so that when the drought hit there was food enough for all?
Did not the wise man build his house upon the solid foundations so that when the storm came he could stand and recover without too much destroyed?
The fact is this: that as long as we live in this world, storms, tragedies, unexpected events and catastrophes are going to come. Eating, drinking and merriment will not cut it. Planning must be part of the procession in order that sustainment can be accommodated.
The days of putting all your eggs in one basket and watching that basket are long gone. It’s the process of putting your eggs in a range of carefully selected baskets and watching each and every one of those baskets that will carry you through the storms relatively unscathed. And amidst that mix – to have a plan, a vision, a dream and a map to see that dream’s fulfillment, one may need to tack, turn and even at times retreat because of the unpredictability of the waves that crash over the sides of your vessel.

‘For the vision……will surely come.’ Habbakuk 2:3 KJV
God has a plan and a purpose for each and every child who is born on planet earth. We have all been assigned with a life mission, but it is up to us to draw aside and discover what that assignment is for our life.
He wants to share his plan with you, but he will not force it upon you. He’s a gentleman and awaits you to ask, knock and seek.
One way that I have personally done this throughout the years is by taking myself away for days at a time, sometimes on my own and other times with my wife, to simply listen and receive fresh instructions.
Sometimes the instructions have come in the middle of the night. At other times early in the morning. There has been no rhythm or rhyme to this revelation – for I have at times been walking, at other times shaving, even at times fast asleep – but I have learnt to listen to that still small voice, that gentle nudge, and that peaceful suggestion.

To be filled with passion is to be driven by a desire to achieve. For you have received a dictate – an order – a command for your life. You have stepped from the state of ordinary into a transformed new state called extraordinary.
Spoiled for eternity’s purposes.
You no longer live in the land of the mediocre. You have been translated into the nation of excellence.
Every decision you now make, every step you now take is directed by an inbuilt compass that will guide your every step, influence your every decision, and enlighten your every turn that you take.
A fresh purpose has been deposited within your being, and like a magnet you will begin to attract like minded people. Someone once told me that you never need worry about money if you have a vision. Finance flows to an unstoppable vision, for the world is crying out for dreamers, screaming out for a cause and is looking for the visionaries, the pioneers, and the leaders.

‘Go confidently in the direction of your dreams.’ Henry David Thoreau
Many live their lives being driven by circumstances – by making a living, by paying the mortgage, or by keeping up appearances.
May I suggest that there is a far better way to live your life. And that is to ‘go confidently in the direction of your dreams’. Make your dreams the compass that guides your every decision, and leads your every step.
At times the dream may even direct you to discard the acceptable, the normal, and to even abandon the status quo. But by doing so you will embark upon a life so exciting, so exhilarating, that at times it will even take your breath away.
To live a life totally bound by meetings, schedules, tasks, or programs can ultimately deaden the dream, if you let it. So make a point to at times choose to ignore the email, the voice mail, the diary entry, and pause to rediscover the dream. In confidence then take your next step in the direction of your dreams. Let it be the light that leads you through the darkness of a busy and demanding life.

To live with a dream
Still buried within
Is to deny the world
Of what could have been.
To die with a dream
Still buried within
Is to die with unspent riches
That should have been.
So whether you live or whether you die
Spend building your dream and don’t deny.
For in so doing
We’ll not be left wondering
About…
What could have, or should have been.
