The Road To Life Is A Disciplined Life

‘If you love learning, you love the that goes with it – how shortsighted to refuse correction.’ Proverbs 12:1 The Message

Laziness will never produce anything of value. Tardiness will leave behind disappointment and unfulfilled promises. But will instill confidence and provide as its hallmark.

But takes on many forms, and it is my to unveil how we are to apply this to our daily lives.

So here are five areas where I have found to help me live a fulfilled and productive life.

1. A Disciplined Mind

How you fill your mind will determine the way you think and the way you live. That is why I spend a portion of each day in the disciplining of my mind. Most days I start by reading literature, which includes the Bible along with material written in that field – from both the past and the present. I flick though the newspapers with one only, and that is to find commentary on the businesses I’m either involved or interested in, but I refuse to focus on the negative.

How To Live Life At The Pace of Rest

Frantic people live frantic lives. Stressed people live stressed lives, So many are driven. So many people are over-active. So many people strive. They are anxious – often eating and drinking far too much and working far too long.

This Means War

In order to move forward in life, to achieve your God-given goals and the destiny that is yours to fulfill, there needs to come a point in your life where you stand up straight, in the face of opposition, impossibility and whatever else stands in your way from being all that you were created to be, and declare, ‘This means war!’

Life will continue to play with you, and it will continue to lure you into mediocrity. Life will continue to keep you busy doing the ordinary – until you stop and draw a line in the sand of life and shout, ‘This means war!’

Silence Speaks

In order to listen one must be silent. For in silence one can learn.

But in this day and age we are surrounded by noise, and it takes a disciplined human being to learn the art of silence. Before you speak, listen. For it is in the silence that strategy, security, and serenity can be established in your spirit, soul and body.

So nullify the noise by drawing aside in silence.

From personal experience I can attest to the spiritual uplift that I receive from the silence. In addition, my mind is cleared of the daily pressures that make up my journey on planet earth. Through this practice I gain both clarity and calmness.

The Discipline Dilemma

We live in a world where many parents have forgotten the art of disciplining their children.

Two hundred teenagers recently rioted in a nearby seaside suburb, and then the local community is calling for more police. But the reality of the situation is this. There are two hundred sets of parents out there who have failed their children by not disciplining the next generation. We don’t need more policing. What we require is better parenting.

The good book clearly states: ‘Point your kids in the right direction — when they’re old they won’t be lost.’ Proverbs 22:6

And then more controversially states in Proverbs 23:13,14 – ‘Don’t be afraid to correct your young ones; a spanking won’t kill them. A good spanking, in fact, might save them from something worse than death.’

Now as a parent of three children, I know for a fact that it is because I followed these guidelines that my children have developed into responsible teenagers and adults.
