Joie De Vivre

Before heading to bed tonight I found myself singing The Beatles song ‘All You Need Is Love’, and soon recalled all the events that had just occurred in my household – just another bustling night in the Sinclair household.

Over dinner, which my wife and I shared with my son and his girlfriend, we found ourselves discussing passionately a whole range of new business ventures we wanted to explore in the new year. This was done over chicken pie, and a very nice chicken pie I might add, where we were dreaming dreams, planning plans, and mapping maps with our words for the future. What a meal. Food for the body, soul and the spirit. Rich food for thought.

Then after the meal my eldest married daughter dropped in to use her mother’s sewing machine. A fault in the machine needed correcting, so out was pulled my trusty tool kit, which ultimately kept things moving seamlessly in the sewing department.

In the midst of this it was decided that the cat needed to be wormed. So wrapped up in a towel to protect all involved, the tablet was administered. Three attempts later, and a few cuts and abrasions inflicted by unhappy claws and teeth, the mission was accomplished.

Laptops had been laid out on the dining room table. Music was playing. Books were being read and discussed by some while others moved to an adjacent room to view a DVD. Laughter soon followed. Dishwasher was stacked. Extra dishes were washed in the sink. Dessert was served. Water filter was refilled and vitamins were taken.

The ‘ of life’ was in the air. Then another daughter returned home where we caught up quickly on the days events and where there was more discussion about the projects they are pursuing. More laughter. More .

The cat had finally found someone’s lap, had lapped the water in the fish tank as per usual (never eaten a fish yet and at 16 years of age  definitely thriving on the Omega 3′s) and then when it was time for bed she sauntered down the hallway to take up residence on one of the children’s beds for the night.

One by one the visitors left and as I was about to go to bed, after having a shower, I was inspired to write about my ‘Joie De Vivre’, or rather ‘ Of Life’ night that I had just shared with my loved ones.

And this is the result.

To love and to be loved. I pray that you know the richness of what this is. I am truly blessed and thankful. Maybe it is true that , ‘all you need is love’. Da da da da da…

Good night!  God bless!
