Every one of us has a strength. And it is by tapping that strength and by strengthening that strength that we can produce the most productive life possible.
Strong people are those who have identified their strengths and use them on a daily basis to add value to their lives and to the lives of those around them.
There was a skinny little kid showing off to some of his little friends the muscles that were developing in his skinny forearm.
One of the bigger kids mocked him saying, ‘Hey Robbo, are you trying to break the record for the muscle that hangs down the lowest?’
All the kid’s laughed.

Some of the most disabled people that I have ever come across in my life were not ill, had both legs, both arms, were in their right state of mind and to look at them close up, had nothing that would have denoted them as disabled at all.
However, when it came to dealing with the day to day life issues that face us all, they were totally and completely dysfunctional.
The fact is this: to have a disability does not necessarily mean that you have a physical incapacity or even a mental incapacity.
It’s more a matter of the heart and the soul of the individual.

Hugh Holger writes of his experiences gained from crossing the Sahara desert five times, in Timothy Freke’s book ‘The Way Of The Desert’.
He recounts that ‘You need to know what you are doing. One small fault with the truck and you’re finished. But if you prepare properly and take precautions it is safer than you might think. Despite this, each year a number of people who try to make the crossing will perish in the attempt. The most common reason is following mirages. If they just trusted the compass they would be fine, but seeing what they take to be habitation or an oasis they drive sometimes miles off course and that can be fatal.’
I live in a vast continent that has a far greater expanse of desert than lush, vegetated areas. In my travels I have, with my own eyes, seen the ghostly images of white, bleached bones and dusty plains with sparse vegetation, dry waterholes and river beds that once flowed freely with life-giving water. For when a drought strikes, the ground can become so dry that it shrinks and cracks.
In order to survive the harshness of the desert or a drought, there are two essential ingredients that will bring you through successfully to the other side.

There is one particular aspect of the American way of life that I really enjoy, and that is the fact that it is expected, by those who serve you, that you not only pay them for their service, but that you always add some extra money to the bill in the form of a tip.
Now for those of us who live in Australia, this is not a normal practice.
However, at the end of my trip this time, I needed to spend an hour in the lobby of my hotel as I waited for the shuttle bus, that was booked to take me to the airport. It was then that I noticed the bellman for the first time. He had a great attitude and seemed to make everybody he served laugh. At one point he even did a little jig on the hotel floor. I appreciated that, and I know that the rest of his customers did too.
He was somewhat surprised though as I thrust some dollars into his hand before leaving the hotel foyer. He asked me, ‘What was that for?’ I responded, ‘For making me happy.’ In my books this fellow was not just receiving a tip for having a great attitude. He was TIP-TOP.

The more I study successful people, the more I realize that success, or rather success as we perceive it and have thrust upon us via the media, is an incredibly fleeting thing.
To me, success that lasts a moment and then turns into devastating defeat and disaster, is pointless success. It’s a total waste of a human life. Far better no success than to have a result such as that in a life.
To me, true success is the success that lasts. It is the type of success that allows us to live well and to live long. In addition, it allows us to leave a living legacy for the generations that follow us. That, to me, is the true nature of true success.
