Bali, London & My Personal Bodyguard.
After the recent bombings in London I heard a report of a young Australian man who had stepped outside the bar in Bali minutes before the bomb went off there and then now years later was walking up from one of the train platforms in London as yet another bomb exploded behind him. Lucky? No, I’d have to say that God probably has a destiny for him to fulfil here on earth and that he has been spared for something great that lies ahead.
As we watch more and more how the world is becoming a battlefield for extremists, one can become gripped with fear if you don’t know of One who loves and cares for you. You simply have to put your trust in Him. But it is at these times that I turn to Psalm 91 in the Bible and read the following…and I want to introduce you to my personal bodyguard as well.
‘God, you’re my refuge. I trust in you and I’m safe! That’s right – he rescues you from hidden traps, shields you from deadly hazards. His huge outstretched arms protect you – under them you’re perfectly safe; his arms fend off all harm. Fear nothing – not wild wolves in the night, not flying arrows in the day, Not disease that prowls through the darkness, not disaster that erupts at high noon.
Even though others succumb all around, drop like flies right and left, no harm will even graze you. You’ll stand untouched, watch it all from a distance, watch the wicked turn into corpses. Yes, God’s your refuge, the High God your very own home, Evil can’t get close to you, harm can’t get through the door. He ordered his angels to guard you wherever you go. If you stumble, they’ll catch you; their job is to keep you from falling.’
Just reading that fills me personally with the utmost peace. As I entrust God with my life I am so thankful that I can travel the world free from fear, in the knowledge that I am divinely protected by the BIGGEST of personal bodyguards you could ever have.
